The story achieves its depressing mood mostly through the use of light and darkness in the setting. Style's the whole ball game in a sense, because you know it when you see it and what you're seeing and reacting to positively or negatively is what's pretty much at stake with the whole experience itself. I liked this one as it shows the morally corroded mindset of the typical working class man in the South, post-civil war. Was the choice right or wrong?
