Firstly, it was surprisingly well written for a 1970s telemovie yes, a prestige telemovie, but still… Secondly, it was very, very gay. However, the night before the reanimation is to commence, Henry discovers that the process is unstable and that resurrected life will begin to decay. Polidori locks the Creature in the laboratory and sets the building on fire, resulting in a series of huge explosions. Both Victor and the creature become isolated from society. He does not realize that his creation become a monster, after he refused to accept and care. Really it is neither of those. The novel however, defines the terms through its main characters, through the themes of language, nature versus nurture, forbidden knowledge, and the doppelganger motif. In order to show the goodness of the monster, Shelley successfully used Godwinian novel and did not disappoint. His story is one of a brilliant man whose revolutionary ideas brought suffering to himself, his family and friends, and his creation. She also shows incest through Victor's dream of kissing Elizabeth and having her turn into his dead mother. The Creature yards Polidori to the top of a mast, Polidori is struck by lightning and reduced to a skeleton. Miller took a chapter to specifically discuss the parallels between Shelley's familial relationships and her novel, Frankenstein. Victor attaches Agatha's head to a new body and they reanimate a female creature, whom Polidori names Prima.
When the couple returns, it becomes evident that Prima is completely insane, and Elizabeth begs Victor to send her away.
