He was an alcoholic and manic-depressive, and he died in a drunken car crash that killed an innocent woman. Krasner played by I don't know if Ed Harris knows how to paint, but he knows how to look like he's painting. What "Pollock" avoids the pitfall of making simplistic one-to-one connections between the artist's life and his paintings. Harris himself did all the painting seen in the film. The movie Pollock" is a wonderful film that showcases an artist whose brilliant talent and erratic behavior paradoxically gained him fame and cost him his demise.
Pollock may not appeal to everyone, but to those who enjoy biopics, this is a film worth checking out. It is about the physical labor of making paintings, and about the additional labor of everyday life, which is a burden for Pollock because of his tortured mind and hung-over body. We never get to go inside the head of Pollock too much, and this is definitely bothersome, but maybe that's how Harris wants it to be. We feature second-run movies at an upscale, family-oriented, atmospheric environment that everyone is sure to love. The ending ends on quite a harsh, rushed note that feels forced, which detracts from one's overall impression of it. A unique, well-directed and acted biopic concerning the troubled artist Jackson Pollock Ed Harris , his relationship with his wife Marcia Gay Harden , and how his internal demons cut a brilliant career short. Even with its flaws, this is still a good film that presents the turmoiled life of one of America's artists. He needs that space, and given his demons, painting is the only way he can find it. While in some ways it is predictable, including a disturbing final act, the film contains a hypnotic quality about it thanks to an insanely possessed Harris, who is just splendid and you can tell he is very passionate about this particular person. Pollock is often depressed, but "Pollock" is not depressing. He commissioned the screenplay. Flawed, but interesting biopic of Jackson Pollock. Rents are cheap, but the first time Peggy Guggenheim visits Pollock's studio is almost the last: "I do not climb up five flights of stairs to nobody home! But his similarity to Pollock is not just superficial; he looks a little like Picasso, too, but is unlikely to find the same affinity. A man is miserable but he is given a gift.
