And please note that when I claim that Five Were Missing is realistic, it was definitely this when it was first published in 1966, and when I read the book in the early 80s. Summary Of Lois Duncan's 'Ransom'

With the stereotype of being violent and competitive it was something I was surely afraid of trying. I really liked the suspense. Achilles, however, is no longer angry, and in fact feels a kind of solidarity with Hector. Part 4 Achilles is in his hut with his lieutenants when he sees a figure approaching. I thought most of the characters became stronger as a group working together as the book went on. Detailed Review Summary of Ransom by Lois Duncan

Just watch out for the ending is all I would say! These are the main characters in the story. This book was "nostalgic scary" for me. In the trilogy, Wendy is only nine years old.
