Also, placing results in a broader perspective, validity for the median nerve would indicate that other peripheral nerves and similarly shaped anatomical structures can be measured using SWE, opening a new research direction for other peripheral neuropathies. Further testing and development will hopefully demonstrate improved visibility of structures in the CSF containing intrathecal space in a canine model and improved reliability of the arrays. Past Subprojects for Augmented Reality In building this system, we have worked extensively on what is known in the literature as augmented reality technology, especially on registration of the real and synthetic worlds, both spatially and temporally. As there are no established predictive biomarkers available to personalize therapy selection in NSCLC, we propose the use of our high-throughput patient-derived xenograft PDX model using chick embryos in conjunction with ultrafast ultrasound to produce a phenotype-based imaging biomarker for the screening of patient-specific cisplatin resistance. The short penetration depth and high resolution, make high-frequency ultrasound particularly suitable for use in guided endoscopic surgery.
Potential outcomes and advances Imaging of the spine and its contents is today limited to advanced complex technologies magnetic resonance angiography, or MRA, fluoroscopy, CT angiography that are neither portable nor available to many patients due to many factors, including: lack of resources, patient hemodynamic instability, or during intraoperative or ICU care. Aim: The aim of study was to evaluate the accuracy of symphysis-fundal height SFH in comparison to ultrasound scan for the assessment of gestational age. These skills can then be applied within their own professional context, with a variety of obstetrical conditions, extending across many stages of pregnancy in order to save lives. The purpose of this study to estimate the correlation between placenta thickness PT and fetal age FA in normal pregnant women. Thyroid nodules are extremely common lesions and are detectable in 4 to 8 percent of adults by means of palpation, and in 10 to 41 percent by means of ultrasound. Our group is focused on further miniaturizing the histotripsy transducer to less than four millimetres in diameter, so that it can be used, along with the imaging endoscope, to simultaneously image and resect deep access tumours endoscopically. This system could sustain a frame rate of 10 Hz for both display update and ultrasound video grabbing and also provides high-resolution ultrasound slice display and rendering for up to 16 million ultrasound pixels. While some lesions are clearly benign, only about 10 percent of biopsied lesions are malignant. The investigative team has engineered a unique portable device that can easily be inserted at the bedside or in the operating theater quickly, easily and at low cost, allowing for real-time assessment of spinal structures, spinal cord blood flow at multiple levels and patient pathology. Currently, it is hard to predict how patients will respond to treatment and thus, which treatment would benefit them most. Navigation approaches are typically attempted using co-registered previously acquired MRI images, but the brain tissue shifts and distorts so severely after the skull is opened and the cranial pressure is released, that these approaches are recognized as providing only very coarse information.
The most prevalent neurosurgical guidance tools used presently are simple optical endoscopes and microscopes, but these provide no information beyond the surface of the tissue that the surgeon is about to cut through, so, the approach is still mostly performed blind. Between 2010 and 2011, ECUREI, in partnership with the University of Washington Department of Radiology , with Support from General Electric GE undertook the Portable Maternal Ultrasound Initiative, in Isingiro District Western Uganda with the aim of reducing maternal mortality through training of midwives in limited obstetrical ultrasound, equipping health centers with ultrasound machines and redeploying the midwives who could now incorporate ultrasound into routine antenatal care.
