On the morning of September 15, 2016, our school held an earthquake drill as part of our emergency preparedness plan. The drill was conducted at 10:00 am, and all students and staff were expected to participate.
As the alarm sounded, everyone immediately followed the established procedures for evacuating the building. Students and teachers moved quickly and calmly to their designated evacuation areas, which were located on the school's field.
Once everyone had safely evacuated the building, the teachers took attendance to ensure that all students were accounted for. The school's emergency response team then conducted a thorough inspection of the building to ensure that it was safe to re-enter.
While we waited for the all-clear signal, students and teachers participated in various activities designed to help them stay calm and focused. Some students practiced deep breathing techniques, while others played games or engaged in quiet conversation.
After about 20 minutes, the emergency response team gave the all-clear signal, and everyone returned to their classrooms. The drill concluded with a debriefing session in which students and teachers discussed their experiences and shared any suggestions for improvement.
Overall, the earthquake drill was a success. It provided an opportunity for our school community to practice and review our emergency procedures, and it helped to ensure that we are prepared in the event of a real emergency. The drill also served as a reminder of the importance of being prepared and staying calm in the face of any potential crisis.
