In other words, I was never set on fire, as someone once said. I couldn't imagine anyone wanting him, but you never know. He makes it easy to believe how women can fall for the stereotypical demoniac male and choose to have children with them. Fedders said the film shows that the violence does not have to be as life-threatening as the violence shown in "The Burning Bed" and "The Tracey Thurman Story" for it to be dehumanizing to the victim and other family members. I'm sure there are critics of Charlotte Fedders out there, but they're not coming forward.

Lindsay Wagner did a super job portraying Charlotte Fedders a women who obviously misunderstood traditional religious principles and suffered from low self esteem. She readily admitted that no matter how bad things otherwise were, they always had incredibly spectacular sex. Charlotte's family and friends tell her to leave John but she keeps going back, most likely because he has convinced her that she would be nothing without him. This can at least partially explain why she stayed - not blaming her, of course. Based on a true story.

It is VERY hard to watch the Type A caveman nearly killing his wife more than once, the more so because he's not a demon, but just a well-meaning, hardworking and scrupulous man who wants the best for his family and his country.
