He makes some weird and also some I read this book in my English class and it was very bad. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. Camp Wiggin is a special camp for physically disabled children. The book had a good idea, but the writing is awful. Then they go home. Learning about Ron Jones and his time at Camp Wiggin with his campers touched my heart, and I will never see these kids in quite the same light again.
However, the simplicity of the writing increases its impact a bit because 1 the story is so compelling, you realize the author just had to get it down on paper, whether it sounded poetic or not, and 2 it feels almost unbearably authentic, like you are right there in the cabin with him taking notes in his diary each night with a flashlight. I really enjoyed the ups and downs of the book. On the other hand, there are views and themes throughout the book that are far above the comprehension of a young elementary student. Even though he knows the camp is for disabled children, Ron Jones anticipates sunny days of hiking, swimming, and boating as a counselor at Camp Wiggin. Though the ending was sad, the book itself was just great along with the characters too, a perfect example of a five star book.

The characterization is weak. Although an easy and quick read, it is something for all ages as it tells the author's actual experience one summer working at a camp for disable kids. Amongst these, McKinney uses the strained kinship between Ken Hideyoshi and his father to partially explain how people fall into cycles of violent behaviour. So are the antagonists in most superhero and action stories. I would recommend this book to middle school students because the book has kids and about the age of middle school students.
