The Hunger Games was a great and solid story. There is even a point when she thinks of the death of a Katniss has a fire within her that is longing to burst forth. At least there was some action which is always fun to read. Following the conclusion of the Harry Potter installments, The Hunger Games explores some especially heavy material - making it a go-to book series for not just young adults, but plenty of readers who also enjoy deeper literary offerings. Plutarch, Cinna, even Effie in Catching Fire and Mockingjay, were born and raised Capitol citizens who recognized how wrong the Panem system was, and they decided to do something about it. Background: Set in the future, the nation of Panem took the place of what was once known as North America. If so, when is it possible to determine that it is a moral imperative to wage war on an enemy? There is zero hint of any international relations or other countries even existing in this series. They keep you satisfied yet curious about the next book.

The Spark Lit by Katniss Everdeen The entire story is narrated by the We are privy only to those things that are related to Katniss, and as a teenager who has had to take on the role of primary provider early in life, there is not much on her mind other than keeping her family alive. In the grand scheme of the YA dystopian genre, yeah, love triangles have gotten a bit old. This book is about how they survive the games and make friends and enemies. It is written in a matter-of-fact and superficial manner which does not quite capture the gravity of the content. Still, it would nice to see how Panem got to where it is, as well as to see how North America became Panem in the first place. Ultimately the director crams a lot of quality content into the film's two-hour twenty-minute runtime - though some plot threads, scenes, and characters are underserved by the movie's conclusion.
