The Partner by John Grisham is a thrilling legal suspense novel that follows the story of young lawyer Patrick Lanigan, who suddenly disappears from his law firm in Mississippi. His colleagues and friends are initially convinced that he has run off with a large sum of money from the firm, but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that there is much more to the mystery of Patrick's disappearance than meets the eye.

The novel is fast-paced and full of twists and turns, as Patrick is pursued by both the law firm he used to work for and a group of dangerous criminals. As he tries to clear his name and evade capture, he is forced to confront his own demons and the dark secrets of his past.

One of the things that makes The Partner such a great read is Grisham's ability to create complex and multi-faceted characters. Patrick is a sympathetic protagonist who is forced to confront his own flaws and mistakes as he tries to outrun his pursuers. The other characters in the novel, including Patrick's former colleagues, the criminals chasing him, and even the police officers investigating the case, are all well-developed and feel like real people, with their own motivations and agendas.

Another strength of The Partner is Grisham's ability to craft a gripping and suspenseful plot. The novel keeps the reader on the edge of their seat from start to finish, with a series of twists and turns that keep the story fresh and engaging. Grisham's writing is also sharp and well-paced, making for a smooth and enjoyable read.

But if you are going to start a complex mechanism going you had better be sure that no gremlins can spoil it and this is full of gremlins. Jake Stephano was responsible for finding Patrick, torturing him, and handing him over to the FBI. By all accounts he was happily married and adored his daughter. There is some graphic violence including torture scenes which will upset some. The ending of this story is actually unpredictable. Lots of characters are introduced, lots of details about the case as well as other material whose significance becomes clear only much later, etc etc. While the caper is intricate, it's a bit too flawless.

Cody was fourteen when he was arrested and sentence to death. One, and probably the most important, is Biloxi, Mississippi. And that makes for easy delightful reading. Although as much as I enjoyed the storyline, I didn't much like the ending, I felt it was rushed, like bing-bang-boom, and there were a lot of unanswered questions.

His gravestone lay in a cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. Grisham or would you prefer John? My nails are very chewed up. The storyline was complex, and the writing style was gripping from start to finish. Why did you read this book? Then he proceeds to fake his own death - and takes off running. Moving to the next one, its a feeble attempt at "Just Mercy" with a death row convict on edge as his execution nears. Leave the tragedy to Hemingway and Dostoevsky.

I have think Stephano got her. These people were able to get their hands on the big settlement and as a result were behaving very unethically by showing their superiority to other lawyers and people in the city. The Partner is a good illustration of this truth--the man is always looking over his shoulder and waiting for the inevitable. Jake is trying to help an old friend, however nothing goes as planned. They'd chased him around the world, always just missing him. And does he really get away with it? I can only remember one book that I did not like - in the history of all his books - which include this YA Theodore Boone books.

Secondly, it felt to me like a made for TV movie. It was amazing how it all slowly came together and you found everything out in small pieces. As always with Grisham, we have strong characters and stories that you will get attached to even though they are short. Definitely a book for Grisham fans and possibly a good way to be introduced to Grisham if you haven't yet read anything by the author! After Sandy learned that Patrick was a live, he wasn t critical of his behavior and even agreed to represent him as his lawyer in courtroom. I asked my father, a big Grisham fan, and he suggested The Partner.
