She rebels when she is forced into doing something that she is ordered to do. Do you feel he is wrong to try and marry her off to a wealthy man or to leave Ella alone with. Before that, her mother orders her never to tell anyone about the curse. When the prince entreats her to marry him, Ella fights an agonizing internal battle and, driven by love, breaks the curse at last, delightedly screaming refusals over and over before melting into his arms.

This is a differen remake of Cinderella- about a girl who does whats best even though she has to endure finishing school, her evil step sisters AND father, and the knowledge of having to break up with with Char without him knowing about the spell. Throughout her life, Ella tried to compensate by either delaying following orders or by following them in a way that the person giving the orders never intended. Gail Carson Levine's examination of traditional female roles in fairy tales takes some satisfying twists and deviations from the original. It is such a cozy book, with which it is nice to spend some evenings, lying on a sofa with a blanket and tea. But strong-willed Ella does not tamely accept her fate. He is a cold man who often travels and likes money more than his family.

That was her curse. She realizes that she is unable to stop eating, until Mandy orders her to stop.
