"Footnote to Youth" is a short story written by Jose Garcia Villa that tells the tale of a young man named Dodong who is eager to marry Teang, a girl he has loved since he was a child. The falling action of the story takes place after Dodong and Teang have gotten married and are now living together as husband and wife.
The falling action of the story begins when Dodong and Teang's marriage hits a rough patch. Despite being deeply in love, they struggle to adjust to life together and find themselves fighting frequently. Dodong becomes frustrated with his new responsibilities as a husband and feels overwhelmed by the demands of adult life. He becomes moody and distant, and this causes tension between him and Teang.
As the story progresses, Dodong and Teang's relationship continues to deteriorate. They argue more and more, and their love for each other seems to be fading. Dodong begins to regret his decision to marry so young, and he becomes increasingly resentful of Teang and the demands of married life.
