A; When I first started the class, I got a cool reception from the staff. Allie and Noah continue reminiscing about their summer together as they prepare dinner and tour the house. Allie tells Noah about having found the article and compliments him on his beautiful handiwork. We found no such entries for this book title. I started reading the book thinking it was going to be dumb, but actually enjoyed it as a person! Instead, I discovered that the kids were eager to like me; they were ready to like just about anybody whose life was not either imploding or exploding and who was not a direct authority figure, and they were desperate to be liked back. There is always literary work for someone to be interested in. What makes this difficult for me as a writer is that I write what ever comes to my mind and it will not make sense. As a boy, all Salzman ever wanted was to be a Kung Fu master, but it was his proficiency on the cello that facilitated his acceptance to Yale at the age of 16. Though not mechanically perfect and occasionally cliché, the thoughtfulness and intensity in the writing forces readers to face a basic fact they were perhaps uncomfortable with — criminals are people too. She tells him she is afraid of hurting or upsetting anyone.

One has to wonder if sending him to prison is really the best thing for society. They were on their way in, and another group from a rival gang was on their way out. Eighty-year-old Noah Calhoun, who lives in a nursing home in North Carolina, describes the lonely and sometimes painful nature of his final days. The author has a unique way of placing the reader at the scene with his unique description of the setting around him. This book is a great read for anyone, especially writing students, who can gain inspiration from these troubled kids who express themselves through their writing. Insightful and poignant and funny. Most of them were there for murder, rape, or armed robbery.
