Albert Hamilton Fish was a serial killer and cannibal who was active in the 1920s and 1930s. He is also known as the "Gray Man," "the Werewolf of Wysteria," and "the Brooklyn Vampire."

Fish was born in Washington, D.C. in 1870, and he had a tumultuous childhood. His mother was mentally ill and his father was an alcoholic, and Fish was subjected to physical and sexual abuse from a young age. He later claimed that these experiences led him to develop a sexual attraction to children and to seek out young victims.

Fish began his criminal career as a teenager, when he was arrested for petty theft. He was sentenced to prison, and over the next several decades, he was in and out of jail for various offenses. In between stints in prison, he worked as a painter and a farmer, and he also served in the Spanish-American War.

However, it was not until the 1920s that Fish began committing his most heinous crimes. He targeted young children, mostly girls, and abducted them, taking them to secluded locations where he would torture, rape, and kill them. He also cannibalized some of his victims, and he claimed to have enjoyed the taste of human flesh.

Fish was finally caught in 1934, after a long manhunt. He was arrested in New Jersey and extradited to New York, where he was charged with the kidnap and murder of Grace Budd, a 10-year-old girl. Fish confessed to the crime and was convicted and sentenced to death. He was electrocuted at Sing Sing Prison in 1936.

Fish's case is particularly disturbing because of the depravity of his crimes and his lack of remorse. He claimed to have killed as many as 100 children, and he seemed to take pleasure in his victims' suffering. His case is still remembered today as one of the most notorious in the history of American criminal justice.
